Creative Business Cup: Austrian start-up plastics company wins gold in international competition

The Carinthian company plasticpreur impressed with its solution for plastic recycling. This is the second time Austria has won the Creative Business Cup (CBC) in Copenhagen.

Vienna/Copenhagen (OTS) With participants from 45 countries, the Creative Business Cup (CBC) in Copenhagen is one of the most important international competitions to show the potential of innovative and creative start-ups.

This year, the best company award went to plasticpreneur. The Austrian social and green technology company aims to give a wide variety of target groups worldwide access to easy-to-use and small recycling machines. The company thus enables the processing and recycling of plastics as a craft almost exclusively reserved for industry until now. Austria is thus the only country to win a gold medal at the CBC for the second time.

“Creative and innovative solutions are of particular importance to Austria as a business location. I am therefore particularly pleased that the Austrian participants were able to win the competition this year. It shows that local companies are not only in a great position, but can also provide important solutions globally. Austria is thus successfully positioning itself as a place of innovation.”Finance Minister Martin Kocher congratulated the winning plasticpreur team.

“The Creative Business Cup showcases the best solutions from innovative start-ups. As the plasticpreneur team shows, Austrian companies play a pioneering role at the European level. Congratulations to the whole team for this success. As aws, we support innovative companies from initial idea to success in the international market and we are pleased that we have also been able to support plastic entrepreneurs on their way.”says aws CEO Bernhard Sagmeister.

Promising and sustainable business model

The Carinthian company plasticpreur developed its idea into a business model as part of the aws First Incubator funding program. It was then supported with grants and last but not least, a proof of concept for application scenarios in Uganda could be created by internationalizing the aws support technology. The company currently has customers in 70 countries on 6 continents, manufactures a range of machines in Austria and employs a team of 11 people. Due to its innovative, promising and sustainable business model, plasticpreneur was sent by aw to CBC in Copenhagen.

“We are very pleased for this top, international award. With our technology, we would like to support customers around the world in implementing their creative, innovative and popular recycled plastic products. We want to ensure that plastic waste is used for new, creative solutions on a decentralized and small scale, away from industrial recycling. The Creative Business Cup was a unique opportunity for us to present the start-up plasticprenuer to an international and interdisciplinary jury, exchange ideas with creative entrepreneurs and collect new ideas.”says Marissa Florian, Head of Marketing & Finance at plasticpreneur.
